About the Project
The
Problem
Traditional
medication
management
is
fraught
with
challenges
for the
elderly
and
their
caregivers,
such as
complex
systems
and
frequent
errors,
leading
to
stress
and
health
risks. A
more
user-friendly,
secure
system
with
clear
communication
is
essential.
The
Solution
MediLite
transforms
medication
management
with a
dual-interface
mobile
app
specially
designed
for
Singapore's
elderly
and
their
caregivers.
It
simplifies
prescription
management
and
supports
effective
caregiving
with an
intuitive,
secure,
and
reliable
system,
enhancing
health
management
for
seniors.
User Interview and Research Insights
Empirical
User
Insights

Design
Choices
Interviews
with
17
participants
provided
a
deep
dive
into
user
behavior
and
motivation,
forming
the
backbone
of
our
design
decisions
and
ensuring
they
are
data-driven
and
user-centred.
Users Pain Points and Needs
I
Uncovered
the Pain
Points
Users
Struggle
With
From
user
interviews,
I
discovered
concerns
regarding
the
safety
of
ordering
medications
online,
including
potential
errors,
insufficient
knowledge
of
withdrawal
symptoms,
and side
effects.
The
prevalence
of
internet
scams
further
contributes
to their
reluctance
to take
the risk
and
would
rather
go to a
pharmacy
instead.
-
Mistakes
Face-to-face consultations are my preference due to the fear of mistakenly ordering incorrect medications online.
-
Safety
I'm willing to use the platform once I'm certain the medications comply with safety standards and have the Ministry of Health's endorsement for safety.
-
Simplicity
It's essential that the platform is user-friendly with straightforward, clearly articulated instructions.
User Personas
Key
Demographics
Target
audiences
for the
app are
primarily
seniors
(68-85
years),
often
less
tech-savvy,
and
younger
caregivers
(30-55
years),
typically
more
adept
with
technology.
User Task Flows
Grandparent
Grace's
Simplified
Medication
Refill
Journey
Grandmother
Grace
needs to
refill
her
high-blood-pressure
medication.
She
already
has a
prescription.
With the
MediLite
app,
she'll
find a
no-fuss
refill
process
that
respects
her
experience
level
and
prioritises
ease and
clarity.
Caregiver
Chris's
Efficient
Family
Medication
Management
Caregiver
Chris
who
juggles
several
responsibilities,
is
seeking
a
digital
solution
to
manage
prescriptions
and
medications
for
Grandmother
Grace
and his
family
members.
Using
the
MediLite
app, he
can
oversee
refills
and
monitor
deliveries
without
disrupting
his busy
schedule.
Design System
Colours and
Typography
Poppins was
used for
headings and
Inter for
body text
and
captions.
For the
colours I
used blue
and orange
in the logo
and overall
app UI
design
because
based on
research the
colour blue
symbolises
calmness and
trust
(Practice
Growth Pras,
Doctor
Multimedia).
Studies have
even shown
that the
colour blue
lowers your
blood
pressure and
heart rate.
